Invitation: Max Schrems joins the BvD Fireside Chat
“GDPR reform: Between fundamental rights and business models”
The debate on the reform of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) remains intense and controversial. Following the success of the first two editions of the BvD discussion series on the future of the GDPR, we cordially invite you to the third online event:
BvD Fireside Chat with Max Schrems
September 12, 2025
14:00–15:00 CEST
Data protection activist Max Schrems (lawyer and chair of the NGO NOYB – European Centre for Digital Rights) has been one of the key voices in the European data protection discourse for years. Together with Axel Voss, he has presented a proposal for reforming the GDPR that has sparked extensive debate.
In this Fireside Chat, BvD Chairman Thomas Spaeing and Deputy Chairman Christoph Bausewein will discuss with Max Schrems his motivations for the joint reform proposal with Axel Voss, as well as the opportunities and risks of GDPR reform. The discussion will also address the question of how fundamental rights, economic interests (especially those of small and medium-sized European companies) and technological developments can be reconciled.
Join the discussion (held in German)!
Submit your questions by September 4, 2025 using this form.
We look forward to your participation and an exciting exchange!

Your BvD
