Application period for Data Protection Media Award “DAME” 2020 starts

The competition, initiated by the Association of Data Protection Officers Germany (BvD), is now in its fourth year. Media creators and creative people can submit entries until 10 December 2020.

Film and media professionals, YouTubers, creative people, journalists, associations and initiatives can now apply for the Data Protection Media Award “DAME” 2020. The award, which is endowed with 3,000 euros, honors media contributions that explain data protection in a clear and understandable way and at the same time address the topics and speak the language of their target audience. Young people or school classes can also apply. Contributions of all media genres and forms in the German language are admitted, be it long or short films, reports, print and radio broadcasts, songs, media platforms, video clips or animation contributions. The initiator of  “DAME” is the Association of Data Protection Officers Germany (BvD), from this year on it will be continued by its non-profit organization “privacy4 people”.

Competition entries are possible until 10 December 2020. Interested parties can obtain the application documents at www.datenschutzmedienpreis.de (in German). The jury will nominate three finalists who will be invited to the award ceremony in Berlin on April 28, 2021. The winners will be announced at the gala. The criteria for selection are professional presentation, comprehensibility, target-group-specific appeal and originality.
