Dr. Christoph Bausewein is a German attorney specializing in data protection and cybersecurity. Since 2010, he has been admitted to practice law, focusing on national and international data protection law, including EU-US/Canada data transfers. At CrowdStrike, a leading U.S. cybersecurity firm, he serves as Assistant General Counsel, Data Protection & Policy, where he leads the global data protection team, advising on data protection, data usage, data security, and artificial intelligence (AI). In 2022, Dr. Bausewein was appointed to the European Data Protection Board’s (EDPB) expert group on new technologies. He is also a board member of the German Association of Data Protection Officers (BvD) e.V., chairing its AI committee. Additionally, he co-authored the guidance on the state of the art in cybersecurity for TeleTrusT and the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA). His technical orientation complements his legal expertise, enabling him to design appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect personal data across various industries.

Thomas Fuchs is a German legal expert and public administration specialist, currently serving as the Hamburg Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information. In this role, he oversees the enforcement of data protection regulations, the supervision of AI applications, and the implementation of the GDPR in Hamburg. He is actively involved in shaping policies related to digital privacy, corporate data governance, and government transparency.

He studied law, philosophy, and European law in Hamburg and Brussels, earning an LL.M. Eur. from the Center for European Law and Politics at the University of Bremen. After his second state examination in 1995, he briefly worked as a freelance lawyer before transitioning into public administration.

In 1996, Fuchs joined the civil service of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, focusing on media law and regulation. He served as a broadcasting officer and later held leadership positions in the Ministry of Science and Research and the Ministry of Culture. In 2008, he became Director of the Media Authority Hamburg/Schleswig-Holstein, playing a key role in media regulation at both national and European levels. He chaired the Conference of Directors of State Media Authorities and contributed to various commissions on digital governance.

Nils G. Indahl is the Data Protection Officer (DPO) of the Church of Norway, the country’s leading religious association with 3.7 million registered members. He also serves as the Chair of the Norwegian Association of Data Protection Officers. Before joining the Church of Norway, he was the DPO of the City of Drammen during the introduction of the GDPR in 2018.

With a background in political science, communication, and IT, Indahl has a strong academic and professional record. He was an adjunct professor at the University of Copenhagen, teaching digital communication and IT-related courses. He also taught digital journalism at universities in Norway, Denmark, Austria, and Germany, contributing to media training and research.

Indahl has written several university textbooks and frequently speaks on data protection, privacy, and digital regulation. His expertise spans journalism, IT governance, and compliance, making him a key voice in shaping privacy policies in Norway and beyond.

Pierre-Yves Lastic is Secretary General of the European Federation of Data Protection Officers (EFDPO). Pierre-Yves has nearly 30 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry in several management functions including Data Management, Statistics, Clinical Trials Management, Electronic Regulatory Submissions, Information Management and 17 years in Privacy and Personal Data Protection. From 2005 on he was Sanofi’s R&D Privacy Offcer and in 2013 he became Sanofi’s fist Chief Privacy Officer and built-up Sanofi’s Global Privacy Office. Beside his function within Sanofi, he was a member of the Board of Directors of the Clinical Data Interchange Standards Consortium (CDISC) from 2004 to 2016, and Chairman of the Board in 2014-2015. As a data standards and privacy expert, was a member of the EudraVigilance Expert Working Group as well as the Telematics Implementation Group of the European Medicines Agency (EMA). From 2005 to 2019 Dr Lastic was also a member of the Board of Directors of the International Pharmaceutical & Medical devices Privacy Consortium (IPMPC). Pierre-Yves studied Biology, Languages and Computer Sciences in France and Germany, and holds a PhD in Biology from Bayreuth University.

Jana also received the prestigious Innovative Lawyer of the Year award for her pioneering role in promoting the deployment of new technologies in the legal industry and her advocacy of legal and ethical questions related to new technologies.

Jana is based in Prague and has practiced in London, Paris and Bratislava. She holds post-graduate degrees from the universities of London and Munich. She is a member of the Czech and Slovak Bar Associations and an officer in the International Bar Association. Jana is involved in numerous pro-bono efforts aimed at promoting diversity and inclusion.

JUDr Pavol Szabo, LL.M., is a Senior Managing Associate at Deloitte Legal in Slovakia. He specializes in data protection and privacy, including AI regulation, IT law, dispute resolution, and corporate law. Pavol has led numerous projects assessing and establishing data privacy frameworks for both local and multinational companies. With extensive experience representing Slovak and international clients in legal proceedings, he has also spearheaded projects optimizing supplier, customer, and internal relations within software development firms. Additionally, Pavol regularly lectures at professional conferences and webinars on data privacy and artificial intelligence. He is deputy Chairman of the Slovak Data Protection Association (Spolku pre ochranu osobných údajov) as well as board member of the European Federation of Data Protection Officers (EFDPO).

Spiros Tassis is a Greek attorney specializing in Technology, Media, and Telecommunications (TMT) law, data protection, and privacy. With over 25 years of experience, he has been a pioneer in these legal fields in Greece. He holds an LL.B. from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and an LL.M. in TMT and Privacy from the University of Strathclyde, UK.

Mr. Tassis is the Chairman of the Hellenic Association of Data Protection and Privacy (HADPP) and a board member of the European Federation of Data Protection Officers (EFDPO). He has advised on Greece’s national fiber optics law and the implementation of the NIS Directive. As an independent lawyer since 2010, he leads compliance projects for major entities.

An active contributor to legal scholarship, he co-authored publications on privacy law and frequently speaks at conferences. He is also a visiting lecturer and a member of the SEV Data Protection Working Group.

Simon Weidler is a multilingual policy and privacy expert with a strong international record. He currently serves as the EMEA Policy Manager for Privacy and Data Regulation at Meta. In this role, Simon focuses on privacy challenges in the life sciences sector, contributing to discussions on data protection, artificial intelligence, and the competitiveness of the European Union. His educational background includes studies at the European Institute for Public Administration.Simon’s expertise and contributions position him as a key figure in shaping privacy and data regulation policies within the EMEA region.​

Gabriela Mercuri is Managing Director of SCOPE Europe. Gabriela oversees developing, implementing, and disseminating self and co-regulatory tools in the digital industry, such as the EU Cloud Code of Conduct, a market standard for GDPR compliance in the cloud sector. Together with SCOPE Europe’s growing team, Gabriela is actively working on fostering trust in the digital economy by advancing effective solutions for today’s regulatory challenges. She is an economist and a certified data protection officer who has studied and worked in different countries and is fluent in Portuguese, French, English, and Spanish.
