CPDP stands for “Computers, Privacy and Data Protection” and is an annual three-day conference which provides state-of-the-art advancements in the legal, regulatory, academic, and technological aspects of privacy and data protection. Annually held in Brussels, CPDP fosters a dynamic convergence of diverse stakeholders worldwide for ideation and discourse on emerging concerns and the most recent developments.
The 16th edition of CPDP will be held on 24-26 May 2023 in Brussels, and for the first time the EFDPO is a proud partner contributing the panel below to the comprehensive program. We look forward to an interesting exchange of expertise and new contacts for our growing network.

New EU digital legislation and its impact on the role of Supervisory Authorities and DPOs
The new EU digital legislation (Artificial Intelligence Act, Digital Services Act, Digital Markets Act, Data Governance Act, Data Act and the various European Data Spaces) introduces new instances of regulation in the field of data economy and data protection. What is or could be the role of data protection officers and supervisory authorities in this constellation? This panel tries to give an overview of the views of the EU regulatory bodies as well as of the data protection officers themselves.

Speakers in Order of Appearance
Pierre-Yves Lastic is Secretary General of the European Federation of Data Protection Officers (EFDPO). Pierre-Yves has nearly 30 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry in several management functions including Data Management, Statistics, Clinical Trials Management, Electronic Regulatory Submissions, Information Management and 17 years in Privacy and Personal Data Protection. From 2005 on he was Sanofi’s R&D Privacy Offcer and in 2013 he became Sanofi’s fist Chief Privacy Officer and built-up Sanofi’s Global Privacy Office. Beside his function within Sanofi, he was a member of the Board of Directors of the Clinical Data Interchange Standards Consortium (CDISC) from 2004 to 2016, and Chairman of the Board in 2014-2015. As a data standards and privacy expert, was a member of the EudraVigilance Expert Working Group as well as the Telematics Implementation Group of the European Medicines Agency (EMA). From 2005 to 2019 Dr Lastic was also a member of the Board of Directors of the International Pharmaceutical & Medical devices Privacy Consortium (IPMPC). Pierre-Yves studied Biology, Languages and Computer Sciences in France and Germany, and holds a PhD in Biology from Bayreuth University.
Mag. Judith Leschanz is Chairwoman of the Board of the Association of Austrian Data Protection Officers Privacyofficers.at. She is Managing Director of SECUR-DATA Betriebsberatungs-Ges.m.b.H; at the DATA PROTECTION UNIT of A1 Telekom Austria (or before that at mobilkom austria), she held various management positions in Austria and abroad; as Group Data Officer, she is responsible for the international orientation at A1.
František Nonnemann worked for the Czech supervisory authority in several managerial positions. In 2016, he joined MONETA Money Bank, where he worked as a data protection officer for the MONETA financial group. From 2019 until 2021, he was compliance and operational risk manager in fintech company MallPay. Currently, he works as
Michael Will is President of the Bavarian State Office for Data Protection Supervision. Michael Will began as a public administrator in Bavaria in 1995 and worked at various departments before becoming head of the Department for Public Safety and Order in Landshut in 2002, where he also led the Association for Rescue Services and Fire Alarm Dispatch. He later returned to the Supreme Building Authority in the Bavarian State Ministry of the Interior in 2006. In 2009, Michael Will was given the leadership of the “Data Protection” department in the Bavarian State Ministry of Sport and Integration. He also served as the official data protection officer and was a member of the Bavarian State Parliament’s data protection commission. On behalf of the Bundesrat, he accompanied the entire discussions of the Council Working Group on Data Protection and Information Exchange (DAPIX) on the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) from 2012 to 2015 and also took on the role of the federal observer in the committee under Art. 93 of the GDPR, which is involved in the adoption of adequacy decisions by the European Commission, among other things.
