New video format for schoolchildren: “Data Protection – Easily Explained”

Feb 15, 2022

The initiative “Datenschutz geht zur Schule” (Data Protection Goes to School), launched by the Berufsverband der Datenschutzbeauftragten Deutschlands (BvD) e.V., raises awareness among schoolchildren throughout Germany about how to handle their own data and the data of others on the Internet and in social media more safely and consciously. The awareness program offered by volunteer instructors has been successfully established in schools in recent years.

In order to be able to provide suitable impulse lectures even in times of pandemic without school attendance, the initiative “Data Protection Goes to School” has launched the project “Data Protection – Easily Explained” with the kind support of the data protection supervisory authorities LfDI Baden-Württemberg, the Bavarian State Office for Data Protection Supervision (BayLDA), the Thuringian State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (TLfDI) and the Hessian Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (HBDI).

This involved recording and publishing 18 individual videos on data protection topics that had previously only been taught in classrooms as part of awareness-raising events.
