International Dialogue on Data Protection
The EFDPO is a pround member of the Organizing Committee of this international conference. It offers 100 sessions with over 300 top level speakers and data protection authorities, including international organizations, European authorities, and national data protection authorities, as well as experts in innovative technologies. Representatives of EFDPO and the supervisory authorities will discuss influences and developments that will affect our profession and which qualifications will become more important in this context.

EFDPO Speakers at the Privacy Symposium 2024

Thomas Spaeing has been the Chairman of the German Association of Data Protection Officers (BvD) since 2008 and a member of the board of the Association of Independent Professionals (BFB) since 2015. He is also the President of the European Federation of Data Protection Officers (EFDPO) since 2019, which is the European umbrella organization of national professional DPO associations. As the owner of ds2-Unternehmensberatung, he provides data protection advice to banks, institutions and companies, particularly international corporate groups, across various industries. Thomas has a background in Mechanical Engineering and Business Engineering. He completed an internship in Los Angeles as a student worker in the automotive industry and later became certified as a data protection consultant and auditor. Before starting his own company, he held various management positions in the engineering and automotive industries.

Pierre-Yves Lastic is Secretary General of the European Federation of Data Protection Officers (EFDPO). Pierre-Yves has nearly 30 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry in several management functions including Data Management, Statistics, Clinical Trials Management, Electronic Regulatory Submissions, Information Management and 17 years in Privacy and Personal Data Protection. From 2005 on he was Sanofi’s R&D Privacy Offcer and in 2013 he became Sanofi’s fist Chief Privacy Officer and built-up Sanofi’s Global Privacy Office. Beside his function within Sanofi, he was a member of the Board of Directors of the Clinical Data Interchange Standards Consortium (CDISC) from 2004 to 2016, and Chairman of the Board in 2014-2015. As a data standards and privacy expert, was a member of the EudraVigilance Expert Working Group as well as the Telematics Implementation Group of the European Medicines Agency (EMA). From 2005 to 2019 Dr Lastic was also a member of the Board of Directors of the International Pharmaceutical & Medical devices Privacy Consortium (IPMPC). Pierre-Yves studied Biology, Languages and Computer Sciences in France and Germany, and holds a PhD in Biology from Bayreuth University.

Mag. Judith Leschanz is Chairwoman of the Board of the Association of Austrian Data Protection Officers Privacyofficers.at. She is Managing Director of SECUR-DATA Betriebsberatungs-Ges.m.b.H; at the DATA PROTECTION UNIT of A1 Telekom Austria (or before that at mobilkom austria), she held various management positions in Austria and abroad; as Group Data Officer, she is responsible for the international orientation at A1.
