Seminar on cyber-attack using ransomware “RYUK” in Prague

On Thursday, January 16, 2020, the congress center of Prague Hospital “Na Homolce” was filled to the last place. The meeting devoted to the cyber-attack of ransomware “RYUK”, which shut down the hospital in small Czech town Benešov for several weeks at the end of last year, caused considerable interest among IT specialist and DPOs from hospitals and other healthcare facilities throughout the Czech Republic. Thanks to the cooperation of the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic, the Czech Data Protection Association (EFDPO member), Hospital Na Homolce and Hospital Benešov, professionals (in the field of cyber security, data protection and legal services) who participated in the solution of this incident, acquainted participants with their experience of this attack. 

Representatives of these organizations also took part in the event: National Cyber ​​and Information Security AgencyGovernmental CERT, Cybercrime Section of the Police of the Czech Republic, Czech Data protection Authority and law firm Pierstone and Media house MAFRA

The event was held under the auspices of the Minister of Health, Mgr. et Mgr. Adam Vojtěch, MHA, who also held opening speech of the conference. The main organizer was Mr. Ing. Dušan Chvojka, MBA, head of Commission for healthcare of Data Protection Association.
