Since May 25, 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is binding law in all EU and EEA member states. Data protection stands for trust and is becoming a competitive advantage for many companies. It is therefore not surprising that the GDPR serves as a blueprint for new data protection rules in many places around the world.

But of course there is potential for optimization. Small and medium-sized companies in particular complain about the bureaucratic burden of the GDPR, also in the context of increasing digitization. The legislator has factored this into the text of the GDPR and stipulated that it will be evaluated regularly.

Together with experts from politics, associations and companies, the German EFDPO member association BvD would like to open the discussion on the 2024 GDPR evaluation in an event broadcast via livestream.  The conference, which will include EFDPO President Thomas Spaeing and EFDPO Vice President Judith Leschanz from Austria as speakers, will be held in German and is open to all interested parties free of charge.
