New SARs guidance for employers issued

May 25, 2023

On 24 May 2023, the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (“ICO”) announced that it had published new guidance for employers on responding to requests for information. The right to access, commonly referred to as ‘subject access requests’ (SARs), gives individuals the right to ask organisations for a copy of their personal data.

The new guide provides information on the main requirements for processing requests and answers questions that organisations, especially employers, often ask in relation to processing.
