BvD chairman Thomas Spaeing, together with numerous experts from AI research and industry as well as a wide variety of other fields, has signed an open letter pointing out that AI systems can pose significant risks to society and humanity.
Traditionally, the Autumn Conference and the subsequent Authorities Day organized by the German Association of Data Protection Officers (BvD) are devoted to current developments in data protection.
The Federal Data Protection Act provides for a special position of the internal data protection officer. Due to the sensitive nature of their work, the respective employee can only be dismissed for good cause. This special national regulation has now been confirmed by the European Court of Justice (ECJ), which thus strengthens the role of data protection officers.
Around 200 data protection officers came together on June 28, 2022 for the first Data Protection Day Hesse & Rhineland-Palatinate to exchange views with experts from the supervisory authorities on topics related to everyday professional practice.
